Locked books & limits

OurSpace enforces book limits by controlling access, not by deleting your books.

Why a book becomes locked

Open Space currently allows up to 2 books. Your Space has unlimited book slots under the current plan configuration.

If your account moves from an unlimited plan to a plan with a smaller limit—for example, when a paid term expires—OurSpace sorts your books by most recent edit time. The books inside your current limit remain accessible, and books beyond the limit become locked.

Archived books count toward the same total, so archiving a book does not bypass the plan limit.

What happens to a locked book

A locked book remains stored and visible in your library. OurSpace does not delete or rewrite it simply because the current plan no longer grants access.

This means a plan downgrade or expiry should not erase the manuscript.

How to regain access

You can regain capacity by activating a plan with enough book slots. If you choose to permanently delete books to reduce your total, export or copy anything you want to keep first and make sure there are no unsynced changes.

Do not delete a book merely to troubleshoot a temporary billing or plan-display issue. If you believe a book is locked even though Your Space should still be active, follow Subscription access troubleshooting first.
