Chapter saving issues
If one chapter is not saving correctly, first protect the text that is currently visible before trying broader troubleshooting.
Protect the current text first
If the editor still contains the correct writing:
- Keep the chapter open.
- Copy the affected text into a temporary local document as an extra precaution if the chapter is important.
- Tap Save to create a Version History checkpoint when possible.
- Check the sync indicator for Offline, a pending count, or an active syncing message.
Do not clear browser/app data while the chapter has unsynced work.
Check whether the problem is local or cloud sync
- Confirm your internet connection.
- Keep OurSpace open and wait for pending changes to finish.
- Switch to another chapter, then return to the affected chapter.
- If you use another device, wait until the first device has fully synced before checking the second one.
If the correct text exists on the original device but not elsewhere, treat it as a sync problem rather than rewriting the chapter on the second device.
Check Version History
If the chapter has reverted or an edit was removed:
- Open the chapter menu.
- Choose Version history.
- Review the timestamp and word count of each saved version.
- Use Restore if an earlier checkpoint contains the correct text.
Up to 20 manually saved versions can be kept for a chapter.
If the editor itself is behaving strangely
OurSpace sanitizes editor content and pastes external text as clean paragraph text. Formatting copied from another application may therefore be simplified. If the problem is formatting rather than missing words, see Editor problems before attempting data-recovery steps.
Contact support when the same chapter keeps failing
Include:
- your username;
- book and chapter title;
- what you expected to save and what happened instead;
- whether other chapters save normally;
- device and browser/app;
- exact sync status or error message;
- approximate time of the last correct version;
- a screenshot if one helps explain the issue.
Never send your password or OTP. If the chapter may contain unsynced writing, keep the original device and its app data intact while the issue is investigated.
