Version History
Version History gives you saved restore points for a chapter. It is useful before a large rewrite, after finishing a scene, or whenever you want a known version you can return to later.
Create a restore point
- Open the book and chapter you are writing.
- Make sure the chapter contains the version you want to keep.
- Tap Save.
Each time you tap Save, OurSpace can store a version for that chapter. The app keeps up to 20 versions per chapter.
Autosave keeps your latest work protected in the background, but Version History is built from the versions created when you tap Save. If you never create a restore point, the Version History list may be empty.
View Version History
- Open the affected chapter.
- Open the chapter menu.
- Choose Version history.
- Review the available entries.
The list shows information such as the save time and word count so you can identify the version you need. The newest version appears first.
If there are no saved versions, OurSpace displays a message explaining that no versions have been saved yet and that tapping Save creates a restore point.
Restore an older version
- In Version History, find the version you want.
- Check its date/time and word count before restoring.
- Select Restore.
- Return to the editor and confirm the chapter contains the expected text.
- Tap Save again once you are satisfied, so the restored state becomes a new checkpoint.
Restoring is intended for returning the current chapter to a previous saved state. If you are unsure which version is correct, compare the timestamps and word counts before choosing one.
Version History is not a full backup of every keystroke
Version History should be treated as a set of deliberate checkpoints, not a timeline of every autosave. For important milestones, use Save regularly rather than relying on a single restore point.
If you need a version that does not appear in the list, follow the My writing is missing recovery steps before clearing any app or browser data. A newer local copy may still be waiting to sync on the device where you last wrote.
