Editor problems
Use this article when the writing is still present but the editor itself is behaving unexpectedly.
Pasted formatting looks different
OurSpace sanitizes rich-text editor content for safety. Pasted content is normalized into clean text/paragraphs, so formatting copied from another site or word processor may be simplified or removed.
If the words are present but fonts, colors, or complex formatting did not carry over, this may be expected paste behavior rather than data loss.
The editor shows the wrong chapter after switching
- Stop typing for a moment.
- Select the intended chapter again from the chapter list.
- Confirm the chapter title before continuing.
- If you just created or renamed a chapter, give the app a moment to finish its save/sync cycle.
- If the wrong text persists, close and reopen the story without clearing storage.
The cursor, focus, or scrolling feels wrong
The editor includes focus-aware behavior to avoid replacing text while you are actively typing. A browser extension, unusual keyboard input method, or stale page can still interfere.
Try:
- click/tap directly in the editor;
- close extra OurSpace tabs editing the same chapter;
- refresh after confirming there are no pending changes;
- test the same workflow in an updated browser if the issue is repeatable.
Text is missing, not just formatted incorrectly
Stop editor troubleshooting and use My writing is missing. Do not clear site data, reinstall the app, or overwrite the chapter from another device until you have checked local sync status and Version History.
Report a reproducible editor bug
Include the story/chapter, exact editing action, whether you pasted content, the device/browser/app, expected behavior, actual behavior, and a short screen recording if the problem is visual. Do not include private manuscript text unless it is necessary and you are comfortable sharing that specific excerpt with support.
