Unexpected errors

For an unexpected error, first preserve your current work, then collect enough information to reproduce the problem.

If you were writing when the error appeared

  1. Do not clear app/browser data.
  2. If the editor is still visible, copy critical text to a temporary local document as an extra precaution.
  3. Check whether the sync indicator shows offline or pending changes.
  4. Reconnect and wait for syncing when possible.
  5. Use Version history if the chapter changed unexpectedly.

Try a safe restart

  1. Close the affected screen or tab.
  2. Reopen OurSpace.
  3. Return to the same page and repeat the action once.
  4. If the error is repeatable, stop repeating it and report the steps.

Avoid reinstalling or clearing storage until you have verified that writing is safely synced.

Capture useful details

A good error report includes:

  • the exact page or feature;
  • what you did immediately before the error;
  • what you expected to happen;
  • what actually happened;
  • exact error text;
  • screenshot or screen recording;
  • device and operating system;
  • browser/app/PWA type and version if known;
  • whether you were online;
  • whether the problem happens every time.

If the issue involves a specific manuscript, you can identify the book and chapter without pasting private content unless the content itself is necessary to reproduce the bug.

Never include your password, OTP, payment PIN, or other secret credentials in an error report.
