Data deletion process
Data deletion can involve both account/cloud data and local copies on your own device. Handle them in the right order so you do not accidentally erase writing you meant to keep.
1. Save anything you want to keep
Before requesting deletion:
- open every device that may contain recent OurSpace writing;
- make sure no device shows pending sync changes;
- export or copy the writing you want to retain;
- verify you are working with the correct account.
2. Send the deletion request
Email ourwritingspaceofficial@gmail.com from the account email when possible. Include your username, account email, and a clear request to delete the account and associated personal/writing data.
Do not send your password or OTP.
3. Processing period
The current Privacy Policy states that account closure triggers deletion of personal data and writing content within 30 days, subject to records that must be retained for legal or accounting requirements.
4. Remove local copies only when you no longer need them
OurSpace can keep local story data and unsynced changes on the device. After you have exported anything you need and the account deletion process is complete, you may remove the app/PWA or clear its local site/app data if you also want to remove those device-side copies.
Do not clear local storage before recovery/export is finished.
Deleting one story is different from deleting the account
Deleting a book or chapter affects that content; signing out affects only the session; uninstalling affects the local installation. None of those actions alone is the same as an account deletion request.
